#TRIPBARAI : Christmas Break - Broga Hill!

Assalamualaikum! Time for another #tripbarai post, and this time I'd like to share my experience going to the ever-so-famous Broga Hill. For your information, Broga Hill is located in Semenyih, Selangor. The hill is famous for its beautiful scenery, and good thing is its free! But you do have to pay for the parking :p So here's how our trip went.

It was just another night in the studio when out of nowhere, one of us thought of renting a car to go out and loosen up a bit as we'd been up all night working on our third and final design project. At that time it was already around 10pm, we were planning to get the car at 2am, but since the owner wanted to pass the car earlier to us so we got it at 11pm, without having to pay for the extra two hours. We had our dinner and what not, got the car, changed and packed our clothes, and we were finally ready to push off at 2am. Those who went were Masturah, Caer, Dira, Akid, Oz, Ami, Zai, Elina, Aiman and I. 2am - crazy timing. No one in their right mind would go and climb the Broga Hill at 2am so we decided to kill our time by going around Putrajaya. We were there for one hour so, and our stomachs began to grumble so we drove to Bangi to get some food at McDonald's near Aiman's house. We went through the drive-through since it was already near 5am (I think) and we ate our food in the car on the way to Broga. We were stuck at McDonald's for a while because there was something wrong with the order, but we managed to get to Broga in time. Zai was the one who drove our car to Broga so I can't really explain what it was like to drive there, but from what she told me, the road was dark and bumpy and curvy, so it would be better to get an experienced driver to drive there (but if you wanna gain experience by driving there, that would be great too! be careful tho).

When we got there, Subuh had already passed and the sun was about to rise. As we climbed up the hill, it was still pretty dark so a few of us used their phones to light the way. For someone who has climbed mountains before, I would say that the route is pretty easy, but tiring at the same time. Maybe because I was hiking in my jeans and blouse (ridiculous, I know, but I did look good in the pics we took on the hill tho). Mind you, we were there on a Christmas morning so you can imagine how packed it was even on the route itself. The line of people were continuous from the peak to the bottom, and even as we were leaving there were still people lining up to go up the hill. It took us around an hour to get to the top (I think). There's two peaks, one is the Broga Hill peak, and the other one which is higher is the -- peak. We stopped at the lower peak because Elina was having chest pain, and well, the rest of us had enough of the climbing part and were ready to have some sunrise action. By the time we got to the top, Elina was only awake for like ten minutes and slept the rest of the time. We managed to catch the beautiful sunrise despite the heavy crowd, took a few pictures and had a wonderful time. The sunrise was amazing, but nothing could beat the sunrise at Bagan Lalang. Around 7.30am, we decided to leave and head off to our next destination.

Broga is an easy hill to climb, but you will be drenched in sweat by the time you get to the top. I was in my casual clothes while the rest were in their sports attire, but it didn't affect me a bit so I mean, that's how you know it's really not that challenging. Timing wise, I think we got there at the right time. We had the chance to catch our breath and catch the view too, so that's great. They don't sell any food or beverages at the top, but they do have them at the base area so if you forget to bring any drinks, you can always freshen up when you're done with the whole thing. Do bring a small towel to wipe off all the sweat since you will be taking a lot of pictures when you get to the top. Overall, for Broga Hill, I would probably rate it 6/10. Would I go there again in the future? Probably not, since I have so many other places to visit. I don't think climbing it again in the near future would be as worth it as the first time. Would I suggest others to go there? Definitely! It's a good spot to visit especially for amateur travellers like us.

If you're interested to know where we went after we were done with Broga Hill, do watch out for our next post! Thank you <3 - yong
